Abstract

A system for predicting the fatigue life of a bogie frame was developed. This system was based on a motion equation of the bogie frame using modal analysis outside a commercial finite element (FEM) software. This novel method can calculate and evaluate the stress on a bogie frame for a long period using the Affine transformation group theory. The system was verified to have high accuracy of predicting the displacements as well as the stress and fatigue life of a bogie frame during vehicle operation.
