Abstract

Interior passive safety evaluations using the sled tests simulating railway crossing accidents have suggested that the risk of injury to the driver's lower limbs may increase when the driver hits the cab. In order to enhance the safety for driver, a study was conducted using numerical analysis to examine measures to prevent lower limb injuries from the perspective of cab design. It was suggested that the secondary impact velocity of the lower limbs and the method of fixing the plate under the cab desk have a significant effect on the severity of lower limb injuries.
