Abstract

KIRIGAMI structure is a metamaterial whose mechanical properties can be controlled by cutting into the sheet. We focused on the energy absorption characteristics of KIRIGAMI in tension and detected the speed effect by conducting braking tests with varying speed and mass and found that the second region of constant load tension in the KIRIGAMI structure is different under static load and impact load. The KIRIGAMI structure will be incorporated into seatbelts as a braking mechanism to reduce damage to occupants by taking advantage of the energy absorption characteristics of KIRIGAMI.
