Abstract
Evolution of quasi-streamwise vortical structures under a sudden spanwise wall motion in a numerically simulated turbulent channel flow is investigated. It is observed that self-sustaining mechanism of quasi-streamwise vortical structures is destroyed due to application of a sudden spanwise wall motion and it results in decay of these structures.
