Abstract
Transient thermal stresses of a particle reinforced rectangular plate of a functionally graded material FGM during the fabrication process are analyzed. The model assumes that soft-ductile particles are distributed in a brittle matrix. We used thermo-elastic-plastic constitutive equation for a particle-reinforced composite taking temperature change and damage process into consideration. The effects of the particle distribution parameter and the maximum initial particle volume fraction on the stresses are discussed.
