COMSOL Multiphysics^® as Engineering Education Tool

Abstract

In engineering education, in order to develop student’s ability on discovering solutions for advanced engineering problems, it is necessary to have a numerical computing environment that can set mathematical expressions freely and can perform multiphysics analysis. In this paper, we will introduce the function of COMSOL Multiphysics on setting the initial value and boundary value problems for partial differential equations and its coupling with given special field analysis. The possibility of the software as an engineering educational tool is also discussed.
