Abstract

The "Project Management Exercise" lecture is offered as an elective course to allow students to experience problem-solving methods through practical project management. In FY2022, students were given an event-type assignment to plan and manage a factory tour during the summer vacation period. Such event-type assignments are common in the real world, but they are relatively difficult for beginners with little experience. In this study, students (project team) who had no previous experience with such event-based assignments were asked to execute a project to solve the problem using project management techniques. As a result, the project team was able to successfully execute an event-type assignment with sufficient effectiveness, from communicating with external stakeholders (MRO Japan, Bus companies, etc.) and recruiting participants to managing the event. As described above, the use of project management techniques in a project that requires heavy responsibility, such as liaison with external stake holders, was confirmed to increase students' achievement in problem-solving.
