Practice of Energy and Environmental Education in Okinawa

Abstract

With the support of the "Energy Education Survey Project" of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, the "Okinawa Energy and Environmental Education Study Group" was established in 2006. Since then, we have been conducting practical research on energy and environmental education that takes advantage of the characteristics of the Okinawa region. The members of the study group are university teachers, elementary, junior high, and high school teachers, government officials, energy-related companies. We report on the energy teaching materials (wave power generation, PET bottle windmill, energy conversion experimental equipment, model condenser car, polymer electrolyte fuel cell, model fuel cell vehicle, etc.) developed so far, as well as the implementation of visiting classes, lectures and energy-related facilities tours.
