Abstract
In our previous study, the evaluation and training prototype system of muscle strength for leg rehabilitation had been constructed by utilizing the magnetorheological fluid brake as a loading machine, and in this study the measurement and evaluation system of the maximum muscle strength for the angular velocity of the knee joint has been developed by making the best use of the loading characteristics of the MR brake. The measurement method of the leg muscle strength in stretching mode of the knee joint using this system has been investigated to evaluate the maximum muscle strength for the angular velocity of the knee joint, and then the measured muscle strength curves has been approximated with the Hill's equation of the skeletal muscle to examine the validity of the measurement. Especially, in this paper, the automation of muscle strength measurement using a computer is treated to discuss the simplification and accuracy improvement of the measurement.
