Abstract
The new wheelchair cushion was designed for the patient with spinal cord injury and hip disarticulation who did not adapt to the ready-made wheelchair cushion and had repeatedly suffered pressure ulcer by load concentration to ischium part. The new concept was based on the weight bearing theory of hip disarticulation prosthesis socket. The cushion designed by the casting and modification method that is to compress the stump's soft tissue. The evaluation results of the two materials showed that it is possible to disperse pressure ischium part and support his body without his upper limbs extremities.
