Abstract
DLC Thin films were coated on PC (Polycarbonate) to improve tribological properties (Friction coefficient, Wear). The influence of processing methods on friction and wear properties was experimentally carried out. DLC thin films for PC were coated with the following two different methods (1) DLC thin film deposited with plasma-chemical vapor deposition (P-CVD/DLC/PC). (2) DLC thin film deposited with ionic vapor deposition (IVD/DLC/PC). As the results, the friction and wear evaluation shows that DLC coated PC (P-CVD/DLC/PC, IVD/DLC/PC) markedly reduce the friction coefficient and wear compared to Virgin materials (Uncoated PC). Especially, the friction and wear properties of IVD/DLC/PC were more excellent than that of P-CVD/DLC/PC.
