Abstract
The object of this research was to evaluate the temperature, strain and stress changes near the weld fusion line during welding, accurately. Therefore 3-dimensional thermal elastic-plastic analysis was carried out using the measured temperature data for evaluating the strain behavior and also stresses. To verify the numerical analysis, temperature changes were measured with thermocouples, and strain changes were measured with the laser speckle correlation method. The laser speckle correlation method can measure the surface strain directly without contact. Numerical analysis results were agreement with measured results. It was confirmed that the temperature, strain and stress changes near the weld fusion line were possible to be analyzed. This research was carried out by the Japan Power Engineering and Inspection Corporation (JAPEIC) as one of research works which was entrusted by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) (currently, the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry (METI)).
