This paper describes the analytical method of the residual stress distribution in the body using the measured surface value of the residual stress. The basic equation is derived from the boundary integral equation approach introducing pairs of the body force which present residual stress field and are corresponding to so called eigen strains caused by welding. The basic solutions on the displacement and stress fields by the body force dipole are derived and applied to the boundary integral equation approach. A simple example shows the applicability of the present method to the residual stress evaluation in the body.
