Abstract

There exists such a risk that a steam turbine will be broken down by damages on its nozzle and blade caused by the collision with and erosion by steam oxidized scales flied from boiler tubing. The objectives of this investigation are to verify the potential use of AE technique as a means for monitoring the present state of a turbine in operation and to detect the abnormality occurring in its early stage, and to develop the system for preventing serious troubles in turbine performance by use of AE technique.
