Abstract
In deposition process of thermal spray, many molten particles are striken onto substrate with a high velocity, and laminated. Adhesion strength of those molten particles has an important consequence for a mechanical property of coating. In this paper, optical microscope observation of cross-section of single splat, which was formed by free fall experiment of molten particle, was conducted to investigate effect of morphology of splat on the adhesion of interface. Relation between splat of geometry and adhesion strength was examined. It was found that contact angle at edge of splat affected adhesion strength of splat.
