Abstract
We report a case of Tinea faciei infected from her cat. A 34-year-old female visited our hospital in October 2004 for evaluation of an erythematous lesion near her right eye. KOH preparation of the scale revealed mycelia and Trichophyton mentagrophytes complex was isolated from the culture. We isolated Trichophyton mentagrophytes complex from her cat. The isolates were identified as Arthroderma vanbreuseghemii (-) by mating both types of tester strain. We also analyzed DNA sequences of the internal transcribed spacer region of the rDNA in the isolated Trichophyton mentagrophytes complex.
