Abstract
Hereunder is described a new approach to evaluating the influence of strain-rate and temperature on the flow stress of mild steel.
The flow stress consists of two components, thermal and athermal. Application of thermal activated process permits separation of flow stress into the two components developed during the deformation.
Strain-rate cycling tests were performed during the tensile deformation in the temperature range 25°C∼450°C. The effect of strain-rate and temperature on the thermal component and of history on the athermal component were discussed.
