The significance of active plasma TGF ? Β1 level as a tumor marker of colon cancer patients.

Abstract

We studied of plasma TGF-β1 levels in colon cancer patients toward their progression and significance as a tumor marker. From the results, non-activated plasma TGF-β1 levels were significantly higher than controls. And also, these levels were markedly associated with clinico-pathological stages in colon cancer. Plasma TGF-β1 levels were decreased after curative resection of the cancer. These results suggested that non-activated plasma TGF-β1 levels might be useful as a tumor marker in colon cancer patient.
