Expression of Lewis type 1 synthase (β3Gal-T5) in colon was regulated by homebox proteins.

Abstract

We investigated molecular basis of transcriptional regulation of Lewis type 1 antigen synthase (β3Gal-T5) gene using luciferase assay and gel-shift assay, and examined expression level of β3Gal-T5 transcript in normal and cancerous colonic tissue with real-time RT-PCR method. The data strongly suggested that intestine-specific homeobox proteins were involved in the regulation ofβ3Gal-T5 gene.
