Abstract
We have established a cell line, KY, of human ovarian clear cell carcinoma. An in vitro study using APODIREKT KIT demonstrated apoptosis induced by paclitaxel and etoposide, although no significant effect was observed in case of cisplatinum (CDDP). On the other hand, the 3 drugs showed significant antitumor effects in nude mice bearing KY tumor. These results suggested that CDDP might activate immunological system in animals. Immunohistochemical studies were performed using antibodies recognizing the products of p53, bax and bcl 2. The results revealed that mutant p53 was expressed in KY, but others were not, and only KY tumors treated with paclitaxel expressed bax. Paclitaxel seemed to induce apoptosis without wild p53.
