Owing to the rapidly up-coming aging society, neurosurgeons and members of this society play an important role in dementia medicine. Alzheimer's disease is tightly associated with the pathology of synapses, which are fundamental to cognitive functions such as learning and memory. Therefore, it is very useful for developing diagnostic methods to observe the dynamic changes in brain functional connectivity and their pathophysiology in patients at the early stages of the disease. This approach enhances our understanding of human cognition and is expected to increase the potential for developing new diagnostic methods and treatments.
