A 67–year–old male patient was admitted to our hospital due to numbness in distal portion of extremities in January 2014. We administered intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg), which improved his numbness. In April 2014, he experienced reappearance and improvement of numbness by IVIg. He was diagnosed as chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP). After that every two months after deterioration of numbness, he was repeatedly treated with IVIg, which improved numbness. Abnormalities in nerve conduction study were also ameliorated. Although hypoalgesia in the distal portions of limbs has remained, grip and muscle strength has been maintained. In this case, administration of IVIg at fixed intervals after deterioration of numbness and awareness of improvement might motivate him to continue the treatment over 4 years. We observed that repeating of IVIg at two–month intervals after deterioration of numbness was effective as maintenance therapy.
