Molecular mechanics of amyloid β–proteins and the prospects for the development of the therapeutic agents for dementia

Abstract

Alzheimer disease (AD) is a common cause of dementia. The deposition of amyloid beta–proteins (Aβ) in the brain is a pivotal aspect of AD pathogenesis. In this article, we focus on the molecular characteristics of Aβ proteins, and introduce the frontiers of the development of the innovative medications against AD.
