Abstract

Acupuncture treatment for Parkinson disease patients is expanding worldwide. In recent years, evidence on acupuncture analgesia has been accumulating, and its mechanism is gradually becoming clearer. Many patients with Parkinson disease have pain symptoms and feel a great burden. Therefore, there are great expectations for acupuncture treatment. We studied the effects of acupuncture on PD patients. The results showed significant improvement in pain symptoms. Acupuncture is considered to be an effective complementary medicine for the pain symptoms of Parkinson disease and should be actively tried. In the future, it will be necessary to study not only the long–term effects of acupuncture treatment, but also the effects of acupuncture treatment from the early stages of the disease. In order to further increase the scientific reliability of this study, further validation is needed, such as by accumulating cases and conducting a large–scale randomized controlled trial (RCT).
