Abstract

The Fuzzy-set Concurrent Rating method (FCR-method) is a psychometric technique that is a modification of the bipolar rating scale method to improve the defects of the traditional method. Respondents are asked to check both positive (P) and negative (N) mono-polar scales for each question. From the response pairs (p,n), an integration value I and a contradiction-irrelevance index, a contradiction index in short, C are computed. After the FCR method was proposed, various I, C indices have been developed. Among the various contradiction indices C, C3 has been recommended to be used in the actual processing of the obtained data because of its ease of understanding. Since the concept of contradiction in fuzzy logic has not been established, it is possible to propose better indices for contradictions. In this paper, we propose a new contradiction index C6. The C6 is derived with reference to the special indices Ifm and Cfm for the FCR method derived by applying the fuzzy measure model with φs transformation. The new index C6 has the same special properties as the index Cfm and can be used in combination with various integration algorithms when applied to the Improved Rating method (IR-method).
