Abstract
The demand has been increasing to get the higher accurate zirconia elastic sleeves connecting the optical fibers each other. Polishing had carried out to finish internal surface of the sleeve, but processing speed was poor. In order to improve the processing speed, we proposed the finishing method using a reamer with diamond abrasive. However, it remained tool life poor. We introduced an high frequency vibration apparatus to oscillate works in axial direction, to improve the machining performances. The experimental results showed that surface roughness, roundness and cylindricity were improved compared with the conventional machining method. And the tool life was improved, too.
