Abstract
Laser sealing is one of the most important techniques for long life cycles and reliability of chemical batteries. In this laser sealing technique, the controlling temperature distribution is a key factor. Therefore, highly precise thermal three-dimensional analysis for laser sealing has been developed. This method is used instead of the conventional procedure by trial and error. In order to achieve a more accurate and realistic analysis, the temperature dependence of the material constants and of the latent heat during phase change have been taken into account. The results of the analysis were compared with experiments, and it is confirmed that the numerical simulation approach is very useful for laser sealing.
