Abstract
Laser spectroscopic study of particles produced by laser ablation can reveal fundamental processes of laser ablation plasmas. The investigation of molecular species that have internal degrees of freedom including rotation and vibration will provide much more detailed information regarding the process and energy dispersion of plasmas. In this article, molecular spectroscopic techniques applied to laser ablation plasma, in particular laser-induced fluorescence and optical emission spectroscopy, are reviewed. Rotational, vibrational, and transtational temperatures of diatomic molecules in laser ablation plasma are discussed.
