Abstract
With the object of studying steady flow of charged particles across a magnetic field, we have here discussed the Iangmuir probe curve in a transverse magnetic field. The hydrudynic flow of charged particles in the magnetic field is analous to expansion of a gas through a Laval nozzle and is complicated by the electron critical point and the ion crilical point of the Bernonlli equations.
Under a.condition, however, only the ion critical point is existenz for the flow in which ions excess and only the electron critical point is present for the flow in which electrons excess. When the transverse magnetic field is increased, the Langmuir probe curve theoretically shifts towards the low voltage. Further more, when the magnetic field exceeds a certain value solution of steady flow is not present due to loses of charged particles to present the probe.
