Abstract

Pulsed ion beams were extracted from inverse reflex tetrodes and their characteristics were investigated in detail. The inverse reflex tetrodes were fed by a coaxial blumlein line, which was charged by a marx generator. Current neutralized proton beams with a peak energy of 180 keV were obtained with the extraction angle of about 2-3 degree. The value of proton beam current was almost 400 A, and the maximum flux density was 40 A/cm2. Virtual cathode formations and electron reflexing effects were also assured.
