Abstract
The ITER Conceptual Design Activities are expected to be completed by the end of 1990. A next-step programme (Engineering Design Activites) is now under discussion. An overview of the Conceptual Design Activities, including design policy, outline of the device and the operational programme, is presented. The next-step programme is also mentioned.
