Abstract

We made an investigation into the current status of agrochemicals used for cultivation of Gardenia fruit in 6 provinces and 1 region in China. As a result, the use of various agrochemicals was revealed at some cultivation districts. Therefore, we further quantitatively determined the contents of residual pesticides on Gardenia fruit limited to that commercially available in Japan. These samples were from 5 cultivation districts in China. Although several pesticide residues were detected, their amounts were less than each upper residual limit for spices or dried spices stipulated in the Food Sanitation Act in Japan.
