Chemical Constituents in the Whole-plant Extract of Agrimonia eupatoria and Their Aldose Reductase Inhibitory Activities

Abstract

A previously undescribed compound 1, along with (+)-catechin (2), (-)-epicatechin (3), five known flavonol derivatives (4－8), and an agrimonolide derivative (9) were isolated from the MeOH extract of the whole plants of Agrimonia eupatoria. Compounds 1 and 4－8 exhibited aldose reductase inhibitory activity with IC₅₀ values between 15.6 and 21.9 μM.
