We retrospectively reviewed all surgical cases of congenital cutaneous sinus of the head in our center. The median age of the patients at the time of surgical intervention was 1 year and 7 months, and the lesion locations included the nasal (1 case), occipital (2 cases), and temporal (2 cases) regions. After surgical intervention, one case each of nasal and temporal lesions was suspected to be residual. Both cases experienced preoperative infection. The treatment of infected cranial congenital dermal sinuses requires consideration, including a sufficient imaging review, and intervention with other departments. As in the two present cases of suspected residual dermal sinus after surgery, it should be noted that inflammation may obscure the structures surrounding the dermal sinus, resulting in inadequate excision.
