Abstract
Leaf temperature can be used as an indicator to detect mutants with altered stomatal control, because transpiration causes leaf cooling. To investigate CO2 sensing mechanism of plants, Arabidopsis novel mutants which have alteration in the leaf temperature depending on ambient CO2 (ht1 and ht2), were isolated. ht1 is a mutant hyper sensitive to the change of CO2 concentration. On the contrary, the ht2 mutant which has a short stem and exhibits delayed development, is relatively insensitive to the change of CO2 concentration. ht1 and ht2 were mapped on the chromosome 1 and the chromosome 5, respectively. Map-based cloning of these mutated genes is in progress.
