Abstract
Multiprotein bridging factor 1 (MBF1) is known to be a transcriptional co-activator that mediates transcriptional activation by bridging between a transcriptional activator and a TATA-box binding protein (TBP). Expressions of target genes regulated by changing of subcellular localization of MBF1s in Drosophila and human are previously reported. Arabidopsis genome also contains three subtypes of genes encoding MBF1s (AtMBF1s). We have already characterized their expression profiles in Arabidopsis. However, it is unknown if AtMBF1s are associated with regulation of gene expression by changing its subcellular localization.
To determine subcellular localization of AtMBF1s, we fused each three AtMBF1s with GFP and introduced plasmids into Arabidopsis and onion epidermal cells. The signal associated with GFP was observed in nuclei in both experiments. These observations suggest that AtMBF1s originally localize in nuclei and may play a role as transcriptional co-activator.
