Abstract
In many eukaryotes, major target of DNA methylation is repetitive sequences. DNA hypomethylation mutation ddm1 (decrease in DNA methylation) induces a variety of developmental abnormalities through heritable changes in other loci. I will talk about our genetics approaches to understand molecular basis for these abnormalities and biological roles of DNA methylation.
