Abstract
Mesembryanthemum crystallium is a highly salt-tolerant halophyte. In order to isolate genes for the salt tolerance, functional screening was performed using E. coli as a host organism. In this screening, cDNAs encoding chloroplast RNA binding protein were isolated. In this study, the function of chloroplast RNA binding protein in ice plant was investigated. This study was supported in part by Industrial Research Grant Program in 03 from New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) of Japan.
