Abstract
First, I would like to report on the current state of and the issues regarding the teaching of genetic modification (GM) and genetic modification organism (GMO) at Shizuoka University.
I have introduced the topic of GM and GMO in my lectures recently using the pamphlet: Please know genetic modification organism (GMO). The students read the pamphlet after my lecture and wrote their reports about it. I will report on the findings of their reports.
The Institute for Genetic Research and Biotechnology holds GM workshops for senior high school students and prefecture high school science teachers at Shizuoka University every year.
Secondly, when RIKEN Plant Science Center was shown to the public this year, visitors, students and researchers answered the questionnaire about GMO. I will unveil the results of the questionnaire in this symposium.
