Abstract
Plants likely optimize the nutrition utilization efficiency, exploiting multiple systems that are controlled by inorganic nutrition or metabolites and phytohormones mediating nutrient signals. To comprehensively understand the systems regulating nitrogen responses, we applied several approaches that included the analysis of nitrogen-responsive alterations in metabolic profiles and gene expression with the wild type and transgenic plants. We also performed the proteome analysis for nitrogen responses. I will discuss feasibility and usefulness of these approaches in understanding molecular mechanisms underlying various nitrogen responses in plants.
