Abstract
International Biology Olympiad (IBO) is a competition for secondary school students. Their skill in tracking biological problems and dealing with biological experiments are tested for each 5 hours. Interest in biology, inventiveness, creativity and perseverance are necessary. This is useful information to improve biology education on a national level.
In 1990, first IBO was held in Olmouc of Czech Republic (6 participating countries), this year (2006), the 17th IBO was held in Rio-Cuarto of Argentine (47 countries). Japan had last year, the first participation to 16th IBO (Beijing of China) and this year (2006) , 3 students had get 3 bronze medal within 4 commitment students.
Hereafter, it is important to support to JBO by unions of biological sciences of Japan included JSPP. The cooperation of all members related in biological science of Japan is hopped.
