Abstract
We have reported the analysis of the flowering genes from apple ((AFL, MdTFL, MdFT). In this meeting, the expression of the AFL and the MdFT has been studied by in situ hybridization (ISH) and quantitative RT-PCR methods. ISH showed that both genes expressed higher in reproductive shoot apexes than the vegetative ones. But the strength of the MdFT expression had no relation with each stage of floral development. On the other hand, the expression of the AFL2 localized in the tunica clearly at the end of the florescent shoot. The transgenic apple with MdFT showed extreme early flowering, and these flowers had more number of petals and without or with an unmatured carpel. The transgenic apple with AFL2 have grown vegetatively for 2 to 3 years without flowers. The transgenic apple with AFL1 apple tree also showed same traits.
