Abstract
The SABRE DB (http://saber.epd.brc.riken.jp/sabre7/SABRE0101.cgi) provides organized information about plant resources of RIKEN BRC. In SABRE, the BRC plant gene resources (derived from Arabidopsis, Physcomitrella patens, poplar and tobacco) are related with the TAIR (The Arabidoposis Information Resource) gene models and their annotations through their sequence similarities. By specifying a BRC resource number, a gene name or a keyword, corresponding TAIR cDNAs and annotations are searched together with their related BRC resources from various plant species.
Arabidopsis thaliana is "the model plant of model plants": it is most investigated and the accumulation of its biological knowledge is outstanding. SABRE facilitates to use the knowledge for experimental study of other plant species than Arabidopsis.
We are going to integrate resource information of cassava, Chinese cabbages, and other crops outside BRC into SABRE, to develop it as a tool to contribute to the breed improvement of important crops in agriculture.
