Abstract
A new MITE-like sequence 1A1660-1000 was detected in the rice genome. This 340bp sequence has terminal inverted repeats in it. The number of copies of 1A1660-1000 was 11,613 in the rice genome and obserbed in all of 12 chromosomes. The patterns of distribution of 1A1660-1000 were slightly different between chronosomes.
