Abstract
Phytochromes (PHYs) are the sole red/far-red receptors of rice (Takano et al., 2009). We isolated PHY deficient mutants. Specific functions among PHY subtypes (PHYA,B,C) were expected by their phenotypes on photomorphogenesis and flowering time.
RNAs were isolated from etiolated seedling of wild type (WT, Nipponbare) and PHY mutants at 0.5hrs or 4hrs after red or far-red pulse irradiation and analyzed by Agilent rice 22K microarray to identify genes regulated by a specific PHY. We have already reported provisional results (fold change analysis) of them. In this study, we will report new results analyzed by WAD methods (Kadata, Nakai, Shimizu, 2008) .
We found that red and far-red responses were regulated by PHYs redundantly. Top 100 genes that selected by WAD method are highly identical and not different in WT, phyA, phyB and phyBC. We cannot identify genes that regulated by PHYA or PHYB. We identified genes that transient expression change after red pulse are suppressed in phyAphyC mutant with comparison between phyAphyC and others. We confirmed it with more detailed time-series analysis by RT-PCR. These genes are involved in stress response s including JA signal pathway.
