Abstract
VOZ is the plant specific one-zinc finger type DNA binding protein, which is highly conserved through vascular plants, and classified VOZ proteins into one of NAC sub-groups.Arabidopsis harbors two VOZ homologs (VOZ1 and VOZ2). As voz1voz2 double mutant showed the late-flowering phenotype(yasui et al. 2008,49th JSPP,Sapporo,), and we show that voz1voz2 plants have increased freezing tolerance than WT(Nakai et al. 2009,50th JSPP, Nagoya). Those were proposed that VOZs are involved in flowering response and cold response.
In this work, we show that voz1voz2 plants have increased cold and drought tolerance than WT. Furthermore, To evaluate the effect of the VOZ using voz1voz2 double knockout and WT plant, we performed environment stress(osmotic pressure, and salt) test. We will discuss, functional analysis of VOZ should provide new information on the complex regulatory gene networks that are involved in responses to environment stress(Cold, drought, osmotic pressure, and salt).
