Abstract
The Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2 “Daichi-2” (ALOS-2) was successfully launched by the H-IIA launch vehicle No. 24 at 12:05:14 p.m. on May 24 2014 (Japan Standard Time). And critical operation phase was successfully completed on May 27 2014. PALSAR-2 (Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar-2) is the main mission instrument, have a spotlight mode (1 to 3m res.), a high resolution mode (3 to 10m res.) and a wide swath “ScanSAR” mode (60 to 100m res.). ALOS-2 will conducted (1) Disaster monitoring, (2) Archiving national land and infrastructure information related data, (3) Monitoring of cultivated area, and (4) Global monitoring.
