Abstract
In this paper the basic framework of PARS (Package Program for Remote Sensing Data Anlysis) and an example of its application are described. PARS has been developed for the digital data processing of remote sensing data, mainly, MSS data.
The primary object to develop PARS is to give more opportunities of digital data handling to the researchers in various fields of application of remote sensing data. So one of the basic principles during designing PARS is ease to deal for the analysts who are not so familiar with a computer.
PARS is mainly composed the following four steps:
1) Data Inspection and Grey map Generation
2) Extraction of Variable-vectors
3) Discrimination, Classification and Performance
4) Geometric Restitution and Superposition
These steps are divided for the convenience of the analysts. For example, people can realize the analysis sequences and/or pause at any step and return to obtain better results.
It seems that one of the bottlenecks to prevent the efficient utilization of remote sensing data in Japan is the availability of adequate facilities to the people who are interested in remotely sensed data for their own field of application. With those motives the project to develop PARS has started with the aid of Kyoto University Data Processing Center and PARS would be open in use to all colleagues soon.
