Abstract

Among the slope land disasters, the rock fall is large in scale and there are some disaster patterns in them which can not be elucidated by the conventional phenomena of rock falls. It is urgent at present to establish the measure to foresee and predict the occurrence of rock fall disaster.
From the past, the investigation has been made to the prospective hazardous areas by qualitative method mainly throuth the interpretation of oblique photograph and site survey.
Utilization of thermal infrared data is considered as one of the methods to investigate the potentiality of rock fall safely, efficiently and rapidly. In this study, we took up snowy and cold area as the model, and studied the possibility to apply the thermal infrared data on the rock fall investigation.
