Abstract
Usually the linear scanner system, especially the airborne system, suffers from the line-to-line geometric variability. About the orientation of the exterior orientation parameters of an airborne system, one of the already proposed methods is to describe the behaviors of the exterior orientation parameters by spline functions [3] . To this method, the selection of the spline function is of great concern to the accuracy of relative orientation of the exterior orientation parameters. In this paper, a method for the selection of the order and range of spline function is proposed. The smoothness conditions defined in the spline functions are considered in this method. The mathematical model of the method is presented, and an evaluation is carried out with real data obtained in a flight test to prove the feasibility of the method.
